Team Operations - Academy Athletic Trainer
Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement injury prevention and rehabilitation programs within a multidisciplinary model for the Club.
  • Comply with all Club and league policies and procedures.
  • Perform as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players. Health care includes but is not limited to: first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, application of appropriate modalities, developing rehabilitation and prevention programs, as well as conducting rehabilitation and making medical referrals.
  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date roster of player health and participation records in the League-provided electronic medical record system.
  • Order, maintain, and inventory supplies and clinical equipment.
  • Keep athletic training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Provide medical assistance to the athletic training staff.
  • Comply with all OSHA Standards and regulations, including bloodborne pathogens.
  • Prioritize the health of the athletes above all else.
  • Participate in department meetings and continuing education as required.
  • Collaborate with the Orlando City B Head Athletic Trainer for care of MLS NEXT PRO team.
  • Collaborate with the Orlando City athletic trainers for care of the MLS team.
  • Collaborate with the other Orlando City academy athletic trainers for care of the MLS NEXT teams.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree required in Athletic Training from an accredited CAATE program.
  • BOC certified athletic trainer.
  • Florida State Athletic Training licensure (or eligible).
  • Current CPR/AED certification.
  • In good standing with NATABOC and a member of the NATA (or CATA).
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally (valid passport or ability to obtain one).
  • Collaborate with coaches, athletes, performance staff, and medical professionals to improve and manage player condition.
  • Must pass a background check to work with minors and undergo mandatory Safe Sport online training.
  • Physically capable of performing the daily tasks of athletic training (lifting, standing long periods of time, ability to perform physical tasks, etc.).
  • Computer skills: Outlook, Office, Excel, Electronic Medical Records entry.
  • Ability to work independently and autonomously is required.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills.
  • This position requires non-traditional work hours around the players’ academic commitments at the OCSC School (including early mornings, nights, and/or weekends).
  • The job requires regularly lifting/pushing up to 15 pounds and occasionally lifting/pushing more than 25 pounds or exerting heavy force, in a wide range of environmental conditions. The job involves standing, stooping, bending, lifting, pushing, etc.
