Event Manager
Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Event Manager to join our team. This role involves managing operational and logistical elements for various events, ensuring seamless execution and exceptional guest experiences.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as the Event Lead for designated events, working directly with clients and delegating their needs to appropriate departments.
  • Manage operational and logistical elements for the Soaring Eagle Power Hour on Lions home games, including coordinating arrival with outside vendors, preparing pregame activation, and liaising with Detroit Lions Legends and Cheerleaders.
  • Coordinate with airline screeners for NFL visiting team postgame TSA inspection, including setup and teardown.
  • Ensure all aspects of the concert VIP experience are in proper order.
  • Supervise and coordinate operational and logistical elements for street parties held on major stadium event days.
  • Gather and distribute event information for the Ford Field website, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Create partner signage for Bowl Game events and manage partnership assets for Ford Field LED ribbon boards and video boards.
  • Collaborate with the game presentation team to create the Bowl Game run of show and fulfill partnership needs in-game.
  • Develop the ancillary event shuttle transportation schedule for the Bowl Game and communicate with schools and travel companies.
  • Manage the hiring and responsibilities of 10 Bowl Game interns each year.
  • Coordinate with the Detroit Sports Commission to secure and sign-up volunteers for the Bowl Game week-of events.
  • Ensure all necessary signage is created and displayed for major stadium events.
  • Serve as Game Management liaison for major sporting events, assisting with logistics for team bands, travel arrangements, equipment, practice, and games.

Non-Essential Functions:

  • Create scaling and ticketing maps for upcoming concerts and coordinate presale offers.
  • Prepare for concerts by coordinating event creative and collaborating with local radio stations for presence.
  • Negotiate bids for equipment rentals and manage proposals to attract major events to Ford Field.
  • Travel as necessary to bid on major events and learn about logistics.
  • Assemble profit/loss statements and break-even points for potential events.
  • Implement grassroots marketing strategies, including social media for the Bowl Game.
  • Coordinate logistics with community partners like Detroit PAL, Boys & Girls Clubs, and CFP Extra Yard for Teachers.
  • Attend football games and Bowl Season events to network and enhance the Bowl Game image.
  • Manage marketing budgets for certain events and respond to event inquiries.
  • Analyze ingress data from previous events and post-event feedback to improve future operations.
  • Adjust schedule to meet department demands and work goals, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the football schedule.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management, Event Management, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in event management.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator and Photoshop).
  • Proficiency in social media (Facebook, X, and Instagram).
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Proficiency in using Social Tables for event diagrams and Yodeck for digital signage.
  • Negotiation skills and ability to operate office equipment associated with responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and shift gears quickly.
  • May require work at both the Ford Field Management Office and the Allen Park Training Facility.
