Competitive Sports Specialist
Description
Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Director of Campus Recreation, assist with the organization and administration of the intramural and club sports programs. Directly responsible for club sport operations, managing an off-campus boathouse, and a comprehensive Intramural Sports Program within the overall mission of the Department of Campus Recreation and designed to support the University's mission of educating the whole person.
Position Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Assist in the oversight and administration of the club sports program, particularly focused on helping new club sports transition into the program.
- Assist with the oversight and management of boathouse operations for club sports and outdoor recreation.
- Provide support for the club sports program and on-site supervision at programs, competitions, and contests as assigned or required.
- Coordinate, supervise, and evaluate daily operations of the intramural sports program, including decisions on student staff training and development, league and tournament scheduling, on-site supervision of competitions and contests, and marketing and promotions of the programs and services.
- Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating paraprofessional management and undergraduate students working in various capacities with the intramural and club sports programs. Take primary responsibility for the intramural sports staff.
- Develop and revise training methods for intramural sports staff, including sports rules, officiating manuals, videos, practice scrimmages, and training clinics.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of reports reflecting intramural sports participation statistics, satisfaction, sportsmanship, injuries, and budget expenditures.
- Order, inventory, inspect, and maintain program equipment and championship awards for the intramural department and club sports teams.
- Keep informed of regional and national trends by becoming actively involved in community, regional, and national organizations associated with campus recreation.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested by the Associate Director of Campus Recreation.
