Sports Coach
Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Officiate adult/youth sports programs according to general rules and specific Crossroads YMCA rules.
- Stop play when necessary and consistently explain violations fairly.
- Demonstrate and interpret the YMCA philosophy to players and spectators.
- Report injuries to the Program Director, following safety procedures and guidelines.
- Work effectively with varying ages and manage large groups.
- Control all aspects of the game being officiated.
- Attend and participate in YMCA program activities, staff meetings, and required trainings.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Work at various branches within the Crossroads YMCA organization.
- Collaborate closely with the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator to address concerns.
- Assist the Sports Director/Sports Coordinator as needed.
- Participate in YMCA fundraising activities and special events as designated by the Branch Executive Director.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid.
- Completion of New Employee Orientation and online trainings prior to the start of employment.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Minimum age 18 preferred.
- Six months or more of related experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Passion for learning, working with youth/families, and sports in general.
- Desire and ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
- High level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods; occasionally stoop/bend.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to game situations and act swiftly in emergencies.
- Must demonstrate initiative and sound judgment.
