Provide leadership and coordination in working with the principal and coaches to develop an athletic program that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasures of sport, and the principles of fair play.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Experience with improvement of athletic programs and success in building collaborative relationships with students, parents, teachers, and the school community.
- Management and leadership skills.
- Organizational ability.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in administration of athletic programs or educational administration.
- Three years of successful head coaching.
Essential Job Functions:
- Promote participation in interscholastic athletics and athletic clubs.
- Promote a positive attitude among athletes and coaches.
- Recommend employment action including hiring and termination of coaches and conduct annual written evaluations of coaches.
- Coordinate the hiring of game personnel.
- Knowledge and compliance with Title IX guidelines.
- Schedule and coordinate all athletic events including MHSAA competitions.
- Arrange for transportation to away athletic events as required.
- Conduct seasonal coaches and family meetings.
- Plan practice schedules and use of facilities.
- Directly responsible for all aspects of the athletic budget.
- Order inventory and provide for proper maintenance of athletic supplies, uniforms, and equipment.
- Manage systems to ensure proper handling and accounting of all money.
- Work with building principal regarding any changes in the physical plant and/or facilities.
- Provide for appropriate medical support programs and personnel.
- Monitor injury recovery of athletes.
- Serve as School Representative to Leagues, Booster Clubs, and school community.
- Ensure appropriate supervision of all home and away athletic contests.
- Ensure good sportsmanship is exhibited by athletes, coaches, and spectators.
- Educate athletes on the Athletic Code of Conduct and ensure compliance.
- Ensure that all MHSAA rules and regulations are followed.
- Ensure that all Board of Education rules are followed, including local eligibility and training rules.
- Assist in supervision in and around buildings and other student activities as needed.
- Monitor compliance with NCAA regulations and assist coaches, athletes, and families with their understanding of the regulations to protect college opportunities.
- Supervise the administration of the district eligibility policy.
- Supervise overall conditioning program for athletes.
- Work with coaches to foster relationships with youth athletic teams in Forest Hills to recruit and develop future athletes for their sport.
- Provide opportunities for parental input and participation where possible.
- Ensure parents have an avenue for expressing concerns and appeals.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
- Consistent and reliable attendance.
Physical Demands:

The employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position for long periods. The employee is required to stand, walk, speak, hear, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is also required to move about the inside and outside of the building frequently and required to open and close filing cabinets, operate office equipment, and computers. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. The employee travels to remote and/or District locations.
