Athletic Trainer
Description
  • Provides primary medical care and referral to appropriate allied health professionals for injuries incurred while participating in sports and for illnesses occurring during such participation.
  • Implements and administers therapy, rehabilitation, and reconditioning regimens for the student-athletes.
  • Maintains complete and accurate injury, treatment, and rehabilitation records of student-athletes.
  • Formulates and manages the Athletic Training budget request and inventory control, including funds for injury preventative devices, medical supplies, therapy, and rehabilitation equipment.
  • Develops training room rules and oversees the conduct of student-athletes while in the training room.
  • Communicates needs and maintenance of facilities and equipment to the athletics director.
  • Educates and supervises student athletic trainers.
  • Communicates with parents/guardians or relatives concerning injured student-athletes.
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities Required):

  • Must be a licensed member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
  • Must have a Baccalaureate degree and technical and practical experience in the proper application and supervision of a variety of physical therapy and/or diagnostic equipment.
  • Technical and practical experience in utilizing various types of isometric, isotonic, and isokinetic rehabilitation equipment.
  • Ability to use basic diagnostic medical equipment such as a stethoscope and sphygmomanometer.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
