Assistant Coach - Mens Soccer
Description
- Promote and integrate academics and athletics achievement in a competitive and successful environment.
- Lead the Men’s Soccer Development team and assist with the First Team.
- Run games for the development team and assist the first team.
- Recruit competitive and eligible student-athletes.
- Plan and conduct practice sessions to enable team success.
- Evaluate players and conduct individual player meetings to support their growth.
- Maintain proper discipline at practices and competitions in a non-abusive manner.
- Assist the Head Coach in maintaining and inventorying team equipment.
- Run ID Camps and Summer Camps at the College.
- Represent the College and the Athletic Department at a high level, setting a good example.
- Establish rapport quickly with students and their families while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Dress appropriately for office, practice, and team competitions in proper college apparel.
- Teach and maintain a healthy team environment, promoting the NAIA Champions of Character 5 Core Values: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, and Servant Leadership.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in sports management, business, science, or a closely related field.
- Playing experience at the college and/or professional level.
- Prior experience in college coaching and goalkeeper coaching preferred.
- Experience working in a college environment with faculty, staff, and students preferred.
- Strong knowledge of sport specifics, strength training, and game day competitions.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including early/late hours, occasional weekends, and travel.
- Valid SC Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to safely drive 15-passenger vehicles.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to work well in a team setting, take on extra duties, and communicate effectively.
- High attention to detail and a personal standard of excellence.
- Desire and knowledge to help maintain sports facilities as needed for practice and competitions.
- Required to report any athlete/team issues detrimental to the team, department, or college; any illegal activities must be reported immediately.
- Willingness to work within and follow the guidelines of the College and the Department of Athletics.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to move and lift 30 to 50 pounds independently and perform strenuous physical labor.
- Ability to exert 30 to 50 pounds of force frequently.
- May be required to use a ladder and perform frequent bending, squatting, standing, reaching, climbing, kneeling, stooping, crawling, and occasional sitting.
- Occasional work in small, hard-to-reach spaces.
- Work performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to hazardous situations based on work to be performed.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Exposure to bright/dim light, dust, pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibration, fumes, noxious odors, moving machinery, electrical shock, heights, disease/pathogens, toxic/caustic chemicals.
