Assistant Sports Performance Coach
Description
- Provide daily weight room coverage, practice coverage, and home/away game coverage for assigned student athletes.
- Communicate with sport performance, sports medicine staff, and athletic coaches regarding performance and limitations in workouts.
- Design and implement workouts using best practices.
- Document and track all workout progressions.
- Perform duties related to administrative functions as assigned by the Director of Sports Performance.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly operating functions to ensure safety, cleanliness, and equipment longevity.
- Assist with the inventory and ordering of supplies.
- Research and present findings on the latest equipment and/or programming trends.
- Assist in maintaining the fueling station and the athletics department’s nutrition programming.
- Develop, market, and execute internship and/or work-study programs.
- Assist with seasonal weight room scheduling by assessing schedules and coordinating with academic or sport coaches.
- Attend weekly or monthly team or support staff meetings.
- Maintain appropriate certifications as defined by the NCAA.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics, Deputy Athletics Director, or Director of Sports Performance.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred.
- One to three years of strength and conditioning experience in a collegiate environment is preferred.
- Expertise in working with multiple sports, including Women’s Tennis, Golf, Women’s Volleyball, and Cross Country/Track.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to motivate student-athletes and work cooperatively with coaches and the sports medicine staff.
- Commitment to excellence and the value of education.
- Familiarity and comfort working in an environment with a strong academic commitment.
- Sensitivity to cultural differences.
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations required.
- Certification by CSCS, USAW, and/or CSCCa is necessary.
- CPR certification is required within 30 days of hire.
