Description
Manage all racquet sports (tennis & pickleball) activities, events, exhibitions, tournaments, courts, bookings, lessons, and professional staff.
REPORTS TO: COO/CFO
SUPERVISES: Assistant Tennis & Pickleball Professionals
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Demonstrated knowledge and excellence in racquet sports
- Excellent communication skills with members in an appropriate tone and manner
- Extremely strong organizational skills
- Proven ability to lead a team in a collegial environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to learn online booking systems
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that all members and their guests receive courteous, prompt, and professional attention
- Administer and enforce club policies and procedures both on and off court
- Edit all mass communications (electronic and traditional) for consistency, content, and tone
- Oversee the flow of information that members receive via the court booking site and mass emails
- Be visibly present during peak periods of play
- Maximize court usage by encouraging play and arranging games among members
- Ensure members are well-served in selecting and purchasing pro shop merchandise
- Send out daily match reminders for club championship and member guest matches
- Handle all member inquiries about court/lesson fees and pro shop sales
- Ensure adequate professional coverage (Mon-Sun 7am-10pm)
- Ensure that all lesson and court fee charges are processed
OTHER COMMON RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist members in using the online booking system
- Provide monthly reports of court use and lessons
- Maintain an up-to-date calendar of events for the current and upcoming seasons
- Send out weekly reminders for matches that need to be scheduled and maintain accurate records of all match dates and results
- Ensure that all tournaments, exhibitions, and in-house club events are consistently organized, administered, and officiated
- Manage the pro shop merchandise (ordering, purchasing, communicating with vendors on custom items, setting prices, controlling inventory, handling special/custom ordering for teams)
- Oversee junior clinic organization and ensure group contact lists are up-to-date
- Help recruit, select, train, supervise, schedule, manage, and evaluate the assistant professionals
- Ensure that pros are up-to-date in their respective sports and providing excellent lessons
- Maintain a close working relationship with other club professionals
- Continue to seek ways to increase workflow efficiencies
- Constantly explore ways to improve all aspects of the club and member experience
- Monitor the court bookings for completeness, accuracy, cancellations, double bookings, notification needs, etc.
- Complete and submit weekly payroll every Monday (before 12pm) to accounting
- Coordinate with maintenance to ensure repair and cleaning of courts
- Inspect and maintain cleanliness, organization, safety, and repair throughout the court areas
- Coordinate with maintenance on any issues or repairs in the court areas and on set-up requirements for events
COMPENSATION: An excellent salary and benefits package will be offered. The package will be commensurate with other top positions in the industry.
