Assistant Baseball Coach
Description

The Assistant Baseball Coach is responsible for assisting the Head Coach with recruiting, coaching, and training student-athletes in the sport of baseball to prepare them for success in competition at the NCAA Division I level. This position ensures satisfactory academic progress through graduation, fosters a positive environment that encourages sportsmanship, and ensures public statements are supportive of the University and the Athletics Department. The Assistant Coach is expected to be a positive team player and set a positive example by supporting the mission and philosophy of the Athletics program and the University.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

50% - COACHING:

  • Provide technical and tactical instruction, demonstration, and teaching the sport's dynamics to student-athletes.
  • Communicate and motivate effectively with student-athletes to ensure their development and progress.
  • Utilize evaluation tools to monitor training progress and analyze performances.
  • Assist in implementing practice plans and coaching during scheduled competitions/events.
  • Position the program to achieve competitive goals as established in conjunction with athletics administration.
  • Maintain effective communication throughout the athletics program, emphasizing relationships with head coach, sport administrators, and support services.
  • Operate within the rules, regulations, and policies of the University and the Athletics Department.
  • Contribute to an environment that supports academic progress and graduation.
  • Provide support and assistance to service units and student-athletes regarding academic progress and graduation.
  • Use university resources wisely, adhere to fiscal procedures, and operate within the budgetary allotment.
  • Foster a positive environment that supports sportsmanship.

40% - RECRUITING:

  • Coordinate official and unofficial campus visits for recruits, arranging meetings with academic advisors, team members, and other university staff.
  • Recruit and retain student-athletes who can compete successfully and graduate from the University.
  • Manage the recruiting database within the ARMS platform.
  • Assist in coordinating the logistical aspects of NCAA certified events.
  • Promote the execution of the Athletic Department’s strategic plan.

5% - COMPLIANCE:

  • Operate in an atmosphere of compliance, integrity, and within NCAA, conference, and university regulations.
  • Ensure compliance-related activities are completed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and enforce rules and regulations concerning student-athletes.
  • Support the initiatives of the Athletics Department.

5% - OTHER DUTIES:

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience working or playing baseball at the collegiate level.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to baseball.
