St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students each year. Job Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all NCAA, conference, and institutional guidelines, policies, and rules.
  • Demonstrate leadership and professional behavior when dealing with student-athletes.
  • Maintain positive constructive working relationships with student-athletes, athletics department coaches and staff, and all members of the University community.
  • At all times promote the Football program in a positive way.

Recruiting (20%):

  • Teamworks software usage to submit and update recruit information.
  • Correspond via mailings, phone calls, text messaging, and emails.
  • Schedule and set up recruit visits.
  • Attend off-campus recruiting events.
  • Work with the admissions office to recruit student-athletes.

Football Team Coaching & Education (50%):

  • Practice planning and coaching.
  • Individual & small group coaching sessions.
  • Oversee academic, moral, ethical, and athletic development of the student-athletes – personal & team meetings.
  • Game preparation team meetings.
  • Game day meetings, coaching, post-game debrief.
  • Team film sessions & meetings.
  • Participation in community service events.

Football Team Administration (30%):

  • Supervise team during away contests.
  • Participate in fundraising activities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach.

Education / Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Intercollegiate playing experience desired.
  • Collegiate coaching experience preferred.

Competencies / Skills:

  • Ability to demonstrate football techniques and related skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills between students, staff, alumni, and friends of the University.

Supervision of Employees:

  • None.

Work Environment:

  • Well-lit, well-ventilated pleasant work area.
  • Work with students and accompany the team when traveling.

Equipment to be Used:

  • Must be proficient in Word and Excel and able to learn other sport-related computer programs.
  • Train and become proficient with the Teamworks software system for recruiting and managing student-athletes.
  • Equipment related to the sport.

Job Type:

  • Part-time.

Work Hours:

  • Schedule varies depending on if in-season or out-of-season.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends required to support practices, games, and recruiting events.
