TPC Sugarloaf offers 27 holes of private golf designed by Greg Norman located within the gated community of Sugarloaf Country Club in Duluth, Georgia. TPC Sugarloaf’s featured 18 holes, The Stables and The Meadows, are accented by tree-lined Zoysia fairways, Bermuda grass greens, streams, lakes, and hills. TPC Sugarloaf also features The Pines course, a third nine that is slightly shorter in distance but every bit as compelling as the original pair. TPC Sugarloaf is also host to the PGA TOUR Champions Mitsubishi Electric Classic.

The Assistant Golf Professional II is an entry-level position responsible for coordinating various golf-related activities with various constituents at the club.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Administration, Business Management, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent.
  • Thorough knowledge of general business administration practices and professional golf operations practices and procedures as would be acquired through two to four years of similar professional golf experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required. Working knowledge of golf course operations and practices necessary.
  • Registered PGA apprentice or current PGA Member in good standing.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Assist PGA TOUR players, members, and guests with their golfing needs, ensuring that every step of their golf experience at the club runs as smoothly and is as enjoyable as possible.
  • Ensure that all members and guests are greeted and welcomed in a professional and courteous manner. Answer questions and provide assistance and information to customers.
  • Answer telephones to schedule future starting time reservations and communicate information in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Assist with the responsibility of managing, opening, closing, and securing golf shop and storage areas using established procedures.
  • Accurately operate point of sale system, verify the accuracy of prices of state and federal taxes and other charges on all sales tickets. Collect green fees and cart fees.
  • Execute standards and responsibilities for cleanliness and appearance of Golf Shop.
  • Sell merchandise and become fully knowledgeable in all of the Golf Shop products and sales techniques. Anticipate the needs of members and guests and offer appropriate merchandise or alternatives.
  • Assist with physical inventories as prescribed by PGA TOUR Golf Course Properties, Inc.
  • Keep golf shop supplies current (scorecards, tees, pencils, etc.), help with club repairs, maintain club’s handicap system; ensure pace of play standard is maintained.
  • Depending on location, promote golf by participating in player development programs/clinic, and staffing club tournament events established by the Head Professional and General Manager.
  • Assist with completion of required paperwork such as daily usage, inventory, and variance reports.
  • Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; kneel; use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

An essential function of the job is to be able to comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations that would apply to this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions. The position is very active and requires lifting, pulling, or pushing up to or over 25 pounds, moving and/or lifting items with awkward weights. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Travel is not expected for this position.

Work Schedule Expectations: This position requires shifts as necessary based on business levels.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position is a team lead.
