Join the dynamic High-Performance Unit of the Charlotte Hornets as an Athletic Performance Coach! As a key member of our organization, you will focus on improving the physical development and well-being of players with the Charlotte Hornets and Greensboro Swarm. Your expertise will be instrumental in leading year-round athletic performance initiatives that foster an environment for player success. In this role, you will support the Director of Athletic Performance and Head of Athletic Performance. Together with our multi-disciplinary staff, you will contribute to challenging our athletes to reach their peak athletic performance potential.
This position is based in Greensboro, NC, during the G League season (November – March) and in Charlotte, NC, during the offseason (April – October).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead Swarm (G League) athletic performance training programs during the NBA G-League season as required.
- Assist Hornets (NBA) staff with athletic performance training programs during the offseason, with in-season duties as assigned by the Director of Athletic Performance.
- Assist with sports science technology usage, helping to facilitate optimal data collection, entry, and storage as assigned with both the Swarm and Hornets.
- Support nutrition and supplement programming as guided by the Director of Athletic Performance and the Performance Dietician.
- Execute and collaborate on player medical/performance case management, while communicating needed information to colleagues (i.e. medical staff, performance staff, assistant coaches, etc.).
- Manage Greensboro weight room organization, inventory, and cleanliness and assist with similar while in Charlotte.
- Cultivate medical and athletic performance outreach relationships and support organizational research/development initiatives as assigned.
- Serve as a role model for players and staff in physical and emotional wellness.
Required Skills, Experience, and Abilities
To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Physiology, or similar.
- Enrolled in or completed a Master’s degree with a focus on Exercise Science, Sport Science, Strength and Conditioning, Exercise Physiology, or similar.
- Possess Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
- Passion for high-performance sports and continuous professional development.
- Self-starter with exceptional problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate across disciplines within a technical team environment.
- Previous experience working with athletes, coaches, and support staff in a team environment.
- Experience working with athletic performance and sport science technologies.
- Proven respect of confidentiality.
- CPR / First Aid certified.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and talent for communicating (written and verbal) clear and effective messages to both nontechnical audiences and senior performance staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with athlete tracking/profiling technology and athlete management systems.
- Additional credentials as a physical therapist or athletic trainer.
