Mens Varsity Baseball Coach
Description
Hibriten High School is seeking a Head Baseball Coach to train, lead, and develop student-athletes in the skills and strategies of baseball. This position requires leadership in all practices, game day functions, game planning, and other coaching-related duties. Applicants with bus licenses are also preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and implement all Athletic Policies approved by the Caldwell County Schools Board of Education.
- Ensure compliance with school system, state, and conference regulations, and interpret them for staff.
- Follow the administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through proper channels.
- Establish and teach the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques of baseball.
- Organize conferences, clinics, and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
- Train and inform staff, encouraging professional growth and clinic attendance.
- Delegate duties, supervise implementation, and evaluate staff effectiveness at the season’s end.
- Maintain discipline, address grievances, and work to increase morale and cooperation.
- Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling, providing transportation, and organizing tournaments and special events.
- Coordinate with maintenance and school employees for facility use and maintenance.
- Ensure documentation for physical examinations, parental consent, and eligibility requirements.
- Maintain and protect assigned equipment and facilities.
- Advise the Athletic Director on policy, method, or procedural changes.
- Provide training rules and unique sport regulations to all participants.
- Monitor student-athletes’ grades and conduct.
- Attend all practices and games, providing assistance, guidance, and safeguards.
- Implement programs and policies for injuries, medical attention, and emergencies.
- Complete and submit paperwork on disabling athletic injuries within 24 hours.
- Supervise student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
- Determine and enforce discipline, following due process, and contacting parents as needed.
- Assist athletes in college or advanced educational selection.
- Participate in budgeting with the Athletic Director, establishing requirements and guidelines for equipment.
- Accountable for all equipment, issuing, storing, reconditioning, and maintaining inventory records.
- Secure all equipment rooms, coaches’ offices, and monitor authorized access.
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of locker rooms and sport equipment.
- Instill respect for equipment and school property in all players.
- Organize pre-season meetings with parents, coaches, players, and guests.
- Promote the sport within and outside the school through various media and community programs.
- Maintain good public relations with news media, Booster Club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
- Provide information to news media about schedules, tournaments, and results.
Qualifications:
- Must possess administrative and organizational skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Caldwell County Schools athletic policy and procedure, as well as the North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes.
- Effective communication skills with students, staff, parents, and the community.
- Must meet requirements established by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association, North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, the Caldwell County Board of Education, and school administration.
- Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Caldwell County Board of Education are strongly preferred.
- Previous successful coaching experience in baseball is preferred.
- Bus licenses are also preferred.
