Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
- Warmup and Stretching: Provide a proper warmup and stretching routine prior to all lifting sessions.
- Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for all student-athletes during training sessions.
- Technique Instruction: Teach and model proper foundational technique for all required lifts. Provide basic techniques for entry-level lifters and advanced techniques for more experienced lifters.
- Assessment and Monitoring: Use regular assessments to promote strength and conditioning growth and progress. Monitor student-athlete attendance.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with all students, coaches, and the Athletic Director during the summer and school year on all information needed to run a successful strength and conditioning program.
- Engagement: Be a positive and engaged instructor, attending all sessions on time.
- Security: Maintain the security of the building and fitness center at all times when not in use.
- Policy Adherence: Follow and maintain knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
- Confidentiality: Abide by strict confidentiality at all times.
Qualifications:
- A current Iowa Department of Education coaching authorization or coaching endorsement.
- Concussion certification.
- Experience coaching at the high school or middle school level preferred.

The Successful Candidate Will:
- Have the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Possess knowledge of rules and regulations.
- Exhibit strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate coaching and/or leadership experience.
- Have substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of sports and a willingness to examine new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
- Serve as an appropriate role model for student-athletes through instructions and actions.
- Create a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all athletes and staff.
- Exhibit consistent and punctual attendance.
Compensation:
- Season Stipend: $5,935
