University of Pikeville (UPIKE), the Leading University in Central Appalachia, is actively seeking candidates for an Assistant Athletic Trainer in the Athletics Department.

Responsibilities:

• Provide coverage for athletic practice sessions and game events, both home and away.
• Assist with the assignment of sport coverage for all sports medicine staff.
• Supervise work-study and scholarship students helping in the sports medicine department.
• Recruit scholarship students to assist the sports medicine department.
• Maintain the sports medicine rooms as needed to provide the best sports medicine experience possible for our student-athletes.
• Perform administrative duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Relationships: This position requires daily contact with athletic trainers, the director of athletics, student workers, athletes, parents, school administrators, other coaches, physical therapists, doctors, insurance companies, and doctor office staff to share information about the athletic program of the University of Pikeville. These relationships are maintained through email, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

Requirements:

• Master's degree or higher in Athletic Training.
• Certified by the National Athletic Training Association - Board of Certification.
• Familiar with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, e.g., estim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys.
• Self-sufficient and able to manage and direct the sports medicine staff.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
• Ability to perform simple calculations.
• Familiar with conducting research on the Web and creating online travel arrangements.
