The University of Mary seeks a dedicated Athletic Trainer to work under the supervision of the Sports Medicine Director. This role involves supervising the care of student-athletes within the university’s athletic programs, ensuring the prevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of injuries. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

A significant aspect of this role is the enthusiastic implementation of and personal investment in the University’s ‘Greatness through Virtue’ whole-person development model. Candidates are expected to support the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Provide coverage for assigned athletic teams, including traveling with teams as needed.
  • Design and implement programs for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and referral of athletic injuries.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records for all student-athletes, including daily treatment and rehabilitation records, yearly physical exams, and concussion baseline testing.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine Department.
  • Participate in institutional professional development and training sessions.

Desired Minimum Qualifications, Education, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in athletic training is required.
  • Master’s degree in athletic training or a related field is preferred.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the NATA.
  • Licensure in the State of North Dakota.
  • Strong support for the Christian, Catholic, Benedictine mission of the University of Mary.
  • Commitment to the ongoing implementation of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, the apostolic constitution on Catholic colleges and universities.
  • Ability to build a culture of ready and earnest hospitality in the Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and throughout the university, in alignment with Saint Benedict’s admonition that all be received as Christ.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in the recognition, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Competency in current popular Social Media platforms.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
  • Understanding of NCAA rules and regulations compliance.
  • A clear commitment to the athletic and academic success of student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the Athletic Department’s ‘Greatness through Virtue’ philosophy.
