Description

The Assistant Baseball Coach (Field Maintenance) will assist in planning and directing the activities of the Jefferson College baseball team. This role includes providing coaching services as an assistant to the Head Coach and may involve coordinating various administrative functions to support the athletic program. Key responsibilities include scheduling, planning, and implementing practices; monitoring the budget; recruiting student-athletes; ensuring compliance with rules and regulations; coordinating facility and equipment use; maintaining records; and preparing operational reports.

This is a non-contractual position subject to annual renewal based on performance and departmental needs.

Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree required.
  • Experience in playing or coaching baseball at the collegiate level required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team within the athletic department.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Implement specific strategies, in conjunction with the Head and First Assistant Coaches, to improve individual and team performance.
  • Provide individual and group instruction on techniques, mechanics, and approaches specific to baseball.
  • Monitor and adjust training plans based on player progress and team needs.
  • Stay informed on industry developments and best practices, applying them to coaching strategies.
  • Provide feedback to the Head Coach regarding the recruitment of student-athletes.
  • Lead practice sessions and drills to enhance skills.
  • Analyze player performance data to identify areas of improvement and develop individualized training plans.
  • Assist the Head Coach with coordinating travel, game schedules, and practices.
  • Supervise team activities, including attendance at other sports programs’ home contests and campus/community events.
  • Prepare and maintain sporting equipment for practices and games.
  • Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a positive role model for student-athletes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Assessing the potential of a student’s academic and athletic performance.
  • Working effectively with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with coworkers, supervisors, the public, and others.
