Assistant Girls Basketball Coach
Description
The Newberg SD 29J is seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to join our high school athletic program. As the Head JV2/Frosh Coach, you will also assist at the Varsity level, playing a key role in managing all aspects of the basketball program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in managing the high school basketball program, including the off-season program, tryouts, and practice schedules.
- Support the Head Coach in developing a strong program focused on building relationships and achieving results.
- Maintain regular communication with parents and families of student-athletes.
- Track the academic progress of all student-athletes and facilitate support systems to ensure their academic eligibility.
- Promote multi-sport participation and cooperation with other school-sponsored sports programs.
- Assist the Head Coach in developing and implementing off-season athletic programs.
- Coordinate with the local youth basketball program for athletes below the 9th-grade level.
- Work with local media as needed and establish strong working relationships with community support groups.

- Interrupting & Preventing Discriminatory Acts Training Certification
- Homelessness Education/Service Students Certification
- Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
- Sexual Misconduct in Oregon Schools Training
- District Fingerprinting/Criminal Background Check
Qualifications Desired:
- Proven ability to build positive relationships and achieve positive results.
- High ethical and professional standards.
- The ability to be a role model for high school student-athletes and serve as the public face of the program.
- Commitment to academic excellence and achievement for all student-athletes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in working with young student-athletes.
- Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, including parents and community members.
- Strong organizational, time management, and public relations skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of basketball skill development and coaching techniques.
- Ability to teach fundamentals, develop game strategy, and articulate program philosophy.
- Experience as a coach at the high school level or as an assistant coach at the college level.
- Participation experience at the high school and/or college level is preferred.
