Assistant Mens Basketball Coach (Cochran Campus)
Description

The Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Middle Georgia State University (Cochran Campus) plays a vital role in supporting the Head Men's Basketball Coach in leading a successful program that excels both on the court and in the classroom, while also fostering strong community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Skill Development: Teach and develop both individual and team basketball skills in coordination with the Head Coach.
  • On-Field Coaching: Assist with on-field coaching during practices and games.
  • Strength & Conditioning: Instruct and supervise the strength and fitness conditioning program for the team.
  • Recruitment: Assist in identifying and recruiting student-athletes who are both academically and athletically talented.
  • Team Management: Support operational aspects of the team, including equipment inventory, field preparation, and maintenance.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, colleagues, staff, alumni, and parents to ensure the program's success and growth.
  • Wellness Center Management: Serve as a manager in the Cochran Wellness Center during specified hours determined by the Director of Athletics and Wellness.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Men's Basketball Coach or Athletic Administration.
  • Campus Security Authority (CSA): Serve as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Jeanne Clery Act.

Required Qualifications:

  • Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in coaching or playing at the collegiate or professional level. Experience as a player or coach may substitute for educational requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Proficiency in coaching and training student-athletes.
  • Understanding of college-level athletic program management.
  • Knowledge of basketball rules, procedures, and field maintenance.
  • Familiarity with NAIA, SSAC, and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Competence with computers and job-related software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective oral and written communication.
