Dance Coach
Description
The Colorado School of Mines is seeking a Part-Time Dance Coach to assist in directing activities for the club dance program. This role requires adherence to the policies, guidelines, and procedures of Colorado School of Mines, with a strong focus on supporting the athletic and academic development of student-athletes while ensuring their welfare.
Primary Responsibilities:
Coaching:
- Conduct in-season and out-of-season practice sessions throughout the year as necessary.
- Assist with filming and provide technique instruction.
- Travel to all competitions, both in-state and out-of-state when possible.
Administrative:
- Fully understand and adhere to all rules and regulations of the NCAA, RMAC (as applicable), and Colorado School of Mines.
- Manage administrative duties including travel plans, compliance logs, on-campus visits, and more.
- Attend required meetings.
Recruiting:
- Develop and collaborate on annual and long-term recruiting strategies that align with the University, Department, and program values.
- Assist in recruiting quality student-athletes who meet Colorado School of Mines' admissions qualifications.
- Maintain positive relations with the parents of prospective and current student-athletes.
- Respond to all recruiting communications in a timely and respectful manner.
- Travel for recruiting as necessary.
Other:
- Demonstrate a cooperative attitude towards all sports within the intercollegiate program.
- Be willing to work odd hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Adhere to Colorado School of Mines regulations and policies; failure to comply may result in termination.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience in coaching dance at a competitive level.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage stressful situations.
Certifications and Licenses:
- CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact with coaches, student-athletes, athletics administration, and prospective student-athletes and their families.

Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical activities associated with coaching roles, including standing for long periods, walking, occasional running, and long workdays.
Environmental Conditions/Hazards:
- Must be able to perform job duties in inclement weather.
