Baseball Team Manager
Description
The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa (UHM) Athletics Department is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to join the Rainbow Baseball Team as a Baseball Team Manager. This position will assist with all managerial aspects of the baseball program and play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of practices and home games.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the set-up and clean-up of facilities and equipment for practices and home games.
- Participate in limited on-field activities during practices and games, such as assisting with drills, throwing batting practice, and helping with warm-up activities.
- Responsible for videotaping and uploading practice and game films to the appropriate software in a timely manner.
- Record statistics during practices.
- Assist the UHM Team Athletic Equipment Manager with the transportation of equipment to practice/game facilities as needed.
- Be available before, during, and after all home competitions for game preparation and administration.
- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude, maintaining collaborative working relationships with coaching staff, team members, support staff, and administrators.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with federal and state laws and University of Hawaii policies.
- Comply with all NCAA, conference, and University of Hawaii rules and regulations, and immediately report any suspected violations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Criteria for Team Manager
As per NCAA Bylaw 11.01.7, a Manager must meet the following criteria:
- Must be a full-time undergraduate (12 credits at UHM) or graduate student (8 credits at UHM). During the final semester or quarter, students may be enrolled in fewer credits if necessary to complete their degree.
- May participate in limited on-field activities but may not provide instruction to student-athletes or participate in countable athletically related activities, except as permitted.
- For baseball, the individual must forfeit any remaining eligibility in the sport at the institution at which they serve as a manager.
- Must maintain a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 2.0 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate).
- Graduate Managers may serve for a maximum of two years.
Benefits
- The maximum amount a Team Manager may receive will be equal to 50% of undergraduate resident tuition. This does not include payment for Outreach College extension courses.
- Tuition payment will be prorated if the start date and completion of all required paperwork is after the first day of school.
Appointment Period
- 2024 Fall Semester and 2025 Spring Semester.
- Manager positions are renewable upon satisfactory performance, availability of funds, and departmental assessment.
Qualifications
- Accepted and enrolled as a student at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.
- Knowledge of sports, specifically baseball.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
- Effective communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
