Regis University seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in leading a top-tier NCAA Division II sports medicine program. This role is crucial in ensuring that the health and well-being of student-athletes are prioritized, delivering excellent care, and upholding the integrity and reputation of Regis University. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will contribute to the success of the sports medicine program by providing high-quality healthcare, maintaining effective communication with athletic staff, and offering superior customer service.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Medical Care:
- Provide emergency medical evaluation, treatment, and injury triage to student-athletes during practices and competitions.
- Administer daily follow-up care and evaluate injured or ill athletes, communicating with coaching and athletic staff regarding participation status.
- Document injuries, treatments, and rehabilitation, and maintain all necessary medical records and billing documentation.
Administrative:
- Develop effective relationships with student-athletes, coaching staff, parents, and healthcare professionals.
- Assist in monitoring and balancing the sports medicine program budget, including inventory management, purchasing, and facility maintenance.
- Coordinate Pre-Participation Exams (PPE) and required documentation, ensuring all student-athletes meet NCAA, RMAC, and Regis University requirements before participation.
Professional Development:
- Engage in professional development activities and stay current with trends in athletic training and sports medicine.
- Attend relevant professional meetings and opportunities, including NATA, RMAC, and NCAA events.
Fundraising & Promotion:
- Enhance the image of the Regis University Athletics Department by promoting the brand and participating in university-sponsored events and initiatives.
- Participate in department fundraising activities and university campaigns.
Compliance:
- Comply with NCAA, RMAC, and Regis University policies, rules, and regulations.
- Ensure that all assistants, employees, and volunteers under your supervision adhere to these regulations.
- Report any potential violations immediately to the appropriate authorities.
Other Duties:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Physiology, or a related field preferred.
- NATABOC certification.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Eligibility for Colorado Athletic Trainer licensure.
Professional Experience:
- 1-3 years of athletic training experience at the NCAA level preferred.
- Familiarity with working with insurance companies for prompt and accurate payment.
- Knowledge of common prescription medications.
Other:
- Ability to travel between athletic facilities as needed.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
