Job Summary: Snow Sports Instructors at Crystal Mountain provide top-level ski or snowboard instruction to guests, helping them improve their skills while ensuring a fun, safe, and enjoyable experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet Snow Sports expectations, delivering great service, quality programming, and safe recreation.
  • Offer guests a memorable learning experience while exploring appropriate terrain on Crystal Mountain.
  • Create a fun, engaging environment conducive to learning, using various teaching strategies.
  • Encourage student enthusiasm for skiing and snowboarding, promoting continued skill development.
  • Foster group dynamics suitable for students' age, skill level, and group makeup.
  • Evaluate student progress daily using the methods established by Ski and Snowboard School programs.
  • Follow resort etiquette guidelines, always interacting with guests professionally and courteously.
  • Instruct students on The Responsibility Code, ensuring all safety practices are taught and followed.
  • Deliver superior customer service to both internal and external guests.
  • Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and professionalism at all times.
  • Attend required training, safety, and other meetings as scheduled by the department and company.
  • Seek additional training or help when necessary to improve teaching abilities.
  • Conduct lessons according to Crystal Mountain Snowsports program standards.
  • Be knowledgeable about all programs offered by Crystal Mountain.
  • Ensure that students' equipment is adequate and comfortable.
  • Follow policies outlined in the Instructor Manual and Survival Guide.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Specifications:

Competencies:

  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Clear and concise verbal communication skills.
  • PSIA certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Dependable and goal-oriented.
  • Exemplifies professional conduct, adhering to company core values.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

Physical & Other Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, and balance while performing duties.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl frequently.
  • Must regularly lift/move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions.
  • Able to work any shift, including weekends and holidays as weather and scheduling dictate.
  • Must maintain excellent attendance and conduct records.
  • Non-smoking candidates preferred.
