Description
Position Overview:
The Golf Director is responsible for directing and overseeing all aspects of Golf Operations at the five Fargo Park District courses. This includes but is not limited to managing Golf programming (Youth and Adult), Grounds, Pro Shops, and Facilities. The Golf Director will develop strategic goals and implement operational initiatives that enhance guest satisfaction and financial performance.
Essential Functions:
- Develop long-term and short-term strategic goals for the golf department.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual budget, including revenue and expense goals for golf operations.
- Monitor financial performance through monthly reports and regular financial analysis.
- Oversee administrative systems, collaborating with golf pros and superintendents to manage workload planning and staff schedules.
- Promote a customer-centric environment that fosters engagement with the game of golf and meets the needs of the community.
- Maintain knowledge of new technologies, trends, and regulations related to golf and customer relations.
- Ensure the maintenance and care of all golf department assets.
- Work closely with the Community Relations Department to develop golf marketing strategies.
- Implement policies and procedures for Pro Shops and Course Maintenance in collaboration with department staff.
- Provide leadership and professional development opportunities for golf staff.
- Secure sponsorships and partnerships to support infrastructure and instructional programs with Fargo Park District Foundation.
- Manage tenant contracts and provide guidance for clubhouse tenants.
- Develop player development programs with Pro Shop staff to encourage recreational and competitive play.
Other Functions:
- Keep direct supervisor informed of significant issues or concerns.
- Maintain a safe and efficient work environment, responding to hazardous situations promptly.
- Address public comments and provide timely, professional responses.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Accepted education and experience combinations are as follows:
- Option 1:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Sports Management, or a related field with 5+ years of Golf Management experience, including 3 years in financial forecasting and 5 years in a supervisory role. - Option 2:
Associate's degree in Business Management, Sports Management, or a related field with 7+ years of Golf Management experience, including 3 years in financial forecasting and 5 years in a supervisory role. - Option 3:
10+ years of experience in Golf Management or a related field, including 3 years in financial forecasting and 5 years in a supervisory role.
Credentials/Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license required.
- PGA or LPGA Membership, Class A Certification, or CGCS preferred.
