ATH - Assistant Coach - Girls Swimming
Description

Adams County School District 14 is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Assistant Coach for Girls Swimming. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming, preferably having participated at the collegiate or professional level, and will be committed to the development of athletes both in skill and sportsmanship.

Requirements:

Education Level:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

License / Certification:

  • Must hold a current First Aid Card.
  • Must have a valid CPR certification.

Work Experience:

  • No prior work experience required, but knowledge and experience in swimming are highly desirable.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of fitness and conditioning techniques necessary for athletes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of swimming techniques and rules.
  • Preferably experience as a participant at a collegiate or professional level.

Key Functions, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • If employed as a district teacher, fulfill teaching responsibilities as a first priority.
  • Coach students in swimming fundamentals, sportsmanship, discipline, and team cooperation.
  • Adhere to the Colorado High School Activities Association, National Federation rules, and District 14 policies.
  • Assist with supervision of athletes and any adjunct personnel.
  • Communicate athletes’ special needs to the head coach.
  • Ensure fairness and consistency in all decisions regarding participants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Communication:

  • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Growth and Development:

  • Attend clinics and conferences to stay updated on current trends and developments in swimming.

Policy, Reports, and Law:

  • Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policies.
  • Adhere to district and campus routines and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing the athletes.

Compensation:

  • Coaches will be placed on the Supplemental Pay Schedule, based on years of experience for this position, as outlined in Article 11-3 of the Classroom Teachers’ Association Certified Agreement.

Evaluation:

  • Performance will be evaluated annually by the building/District Athletic Director.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • The position involves regular physical activity, including walking, running, standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, and lifting items up to 40 pounds.
  • Work environments include gyms, locker rooms, weight rooms, athletic fields, and buses.
  • The role requires travel to various campuses and district meetings, and may include evening or weekend work.
  • The ability to maintain emotional control under stress is required.
