Key Responsibilities:
- Instruct and develop athletes in fundamental basketball skills, team strategies, and physical training.
- Promote character development, self-discipline, self-confidence, and pride among student-athletes.
- Upgrade your coaching skills by attending clinics, participating in observations, and consulting with experts.
- Organize and supervise the entire sports program.
- Be a positive role model for student-athletes in both your instruction and actions.
- Understand and implement all Biddeford School Department athletic policies and state regulations.
- Collaborate with the athletic director and high school principals to meet overall objectives and evaluate program success.
- Coordinate with and support assistant and middle school coaches to ensure consistent teaching of skills and philosophies.
Job Duties Include:
- Maintain discipline and morale while addressing grievances.
- Ensure athletes are in authorized areas at appropriate times.
- Attend public/staff/departmental meetings when required.
- Additional duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal.
Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience in basketball or a related major sport is required.
- Extensive knowledge of basketball techniques and strategies.
- Ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate coaching staff.
- Awareness of state and league regulations.
Certifications/Licenses Required:
- MPA Requirements
- Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) with fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education
