Assistant Coach - Boys Basketball (West Middle School)
Description
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with the overall management and operations of the boys' basketball program.
- Maintain positive and open communication with athletes, parents, and patrons.
- Assist with planning and organizing off-season camps and conditioning programs.
- Promote good sportsmanship and a positive attitude towards the sport.
- Collaborate with other coaches to provide a comprehensive and balanced approach to athlete development.
- Ensure compliance with MSHSAA (Missouri State High School Activities Association) rules and regulations.
- Maintain accurate statistics and records for all players.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

- Reports To: Athletic Director and Head Coach

Qualifications:
- Minimum Requirements:
- 60 hours of college credit.
- Missouri Substitute Teaching Certificate.
- Completion of a Sport First Aid Course.
- If hired via a substitute certificate, candidates must complete a MSHSAA-approved coaching education program (NFICEP) with a passing grade (80% or higher) for future eligibility. All coaches must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Missouri Teaching Certificate.
- Previous teaching or coaching experience.
Ideal candidates will possess a professional and friendly demeanor, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals in a dynamic environment.

Proficiency in word processing, internet use, and district software, as well as instructional technology like smart boards and projectors. - Physical Demands:
Ability to communicate in environments with multiple conversations and activities. Physical mobility around classrooms, gymnasiums, and playing fields. - Attendance:
Consistent attendance is essential. Frequent evening and weekend work is required for practices and competitions. - Sensory Requirements:
Normal vision, hearing, and speaking are required for this position.
Working Conditions:
- The individual will work in a school environment that is typically noisy and active.
- Outdoor work is required for practices and competitions.
