This role involves leading all aspects of the softball program, including recruiting, game preparation, supervision of staff, and fostering student-athlete development. The coach will serve as a mentor, educator, and role model, contributing to both the athletic and personal growth of student-athletes.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee recruitment and retention of student-athletes.
• Develop game strategies and facilitate game-day coaching.
• Supervise assistant coaches and ensure their professional growth.
• Organize and lead fundraising efforts and alumni relations.
• Plan and run camps, clinics, and community events.
• Ensure compliance with NCAA, RMAC, and Mines rules and regulations.
• Actively contribute to the overall success and goals of the team.
• Maintain high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
• Collaborate with athletic training staff to support injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Detailed Responsibilities:

• Build strong relationships with student-athletes, fostering their athletic and personal development.
• Participate in tactical and statistical analysis of opponents.
• Lead preparatory meetings and make in-game adjustments to optimize team performance.
• Provide academic and athletic advising to student-athletes.
• Manage recruitment visits and coordinate logistics for prospective athletes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• 3-5 years of collegiate-level coaching experience (assistant or head coach).
• Ability to work non-standard hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
• CPR & First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain within 3 months of hire).
• Strong skills in recruitment, game planning, fiscal management, and staff supervision.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication abilities.
• Familiarity with NCAA and RMAC rules and compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree.
• Proven success in leading a competitive sports program, particularly in an academic environment.
• Experience mentoring assistant coaches.
• Public speaking skills and the ability to engage alumni and donors.
• Fundraising experience and knowledge of donor relations.
• Experience working with athletic training staff for student-athlete wellness.

Salary and Benefits:

• Salary range: $65,000 - $75,000, based on education, experience, and other factors.
