Description
Emory & Henry University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics Department. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic training services to our student-athletes, ensuring their well-being, and supporting the mission of the university's athletics program.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide athletic training services to all student-athletes.
- Offer clinic and event coverage as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Administer and oversee the care, prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses for assigned teams and athletes.
- Monitor weather conditions and ensure safety by modifying activities in dangerous environments.
- Implement venue-specific emergency action plans as needed.
- Maintain proper documentation of injuries and illnesses in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Compliance & Regulatory Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assign tasks to student workers and interns within the department.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the department in the absence of the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Attend advisory committee meetings when the Head Athletic Trainer is unavailable.
- Review medical documentation for student-athletes prior to athletic participation.
- Comply with insurance billing policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer.
- Adhere to Emory & Henry College policies and the Department of Athletics.
- Follow all NCAA and South Atlantic Conference rules and regulations.
About Our Ideal Candidate:
Required Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Athletic Training.
- Certified by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.
- Licensed by or eligible for licensure through the Virginia Department of Health Professions (must obtain within 4 months of hire).
Required Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in collegiate or professional athletic training.
Required Competencies:
- Ability to work well with students, faculty, community members, and the media.
- Strong communication skills, with a positive and professional demeanor.
- Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.
