Girls Volleyball Coach
Description
The Athletic Coach will play an essential role in the development and success of the school’s athletic programs while upholding and promoting the values of the Roman Catholic Church. Key responsibilities include:
- Attending all practices and games, ensuring presence before practices begin and after all players have been picked up.
- Planning and leading practices, ensuring players have proper uniforms, equipment, and transportation.
- Communicating effectively with parents, the athletic director, school administration, and other key stakeholders.
- Planning and organizing an end-of-season celebration and participating in school sports assemblies.
- Motivating athletes, teaching sportsmanship, mentoring players, and promoting respect for the game.
- Instructing athletes on the fundamental skills, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Supporting the Catholic mission by teaching and acting consistently with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Promoting and demonstrating personal faith through active participation in the school’s religious and service activities.
- Establishing high standards for student-athlete behavior, fostering positive self-image, and managing disciplinary issues.
- Collaborating with school and Diocesan administration to promote positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Maintaining confidentiality, adhering to the school dress code, and demonstrating professionalism at all times.
Physical/Mental Requirements:
- Ability to perform typical physical activities such as walking, standing, sitting, reaching, and carrying as needed for practice and games.
- Manual dexterity, normal mental and visual capabilities, and the ability to lift as required in a typical athletic environment.
Basic Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership within the Roman Catholic Church.
- If a baptized Catholic, must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church; otherwise, must abide by Catholic principles.
- Thorough knowledge of the sport and ability to develop athletes’ skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, organized, self-motivated, and a team player.
- Availability for evening and weekend work as required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a dynamic environment.
- Completion of a criminal history and background check.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
Education and Experience:
- Valid certification in First Aid and Coronary and Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution (preferred).
- Athletic Coaching Certificate from the State of Arizona (preferred).
- Certified by the State of Arizona as a Teacher (preferred).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
