Assistant Athletic Trainer
Description

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide Athletic Training Services to student-athletes under the direction of the Head Athletic Trainer in accordance with state athletic training practices.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage athletic training coverage for assigned sports, summer camps, external groups, and other sports as needed.
  • Handle prevention, assessment, immediate care, treatment, and rehabilitation/reconditioning of athletic injuries for student-athletes.
  • Provide emergency care and first aid at sports events.
  • Organize and manage athletic medical records and the Athlete Management System (AMS).
  • Evaluate athletes' readiness to play and communicate the status of injured athletes to coaches, strength and conditioning coaches, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with physicians, physical therapists, and other appropriate disciplines to safely return athletes to participation.
  • Communicate with coaches, colleagues, and athletes.
  • Work with other APD divisions (Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, Nutrition, Mental Conditioning, Leadership, Cognitive Perceptual Training) and participate in interdisciplinary pods.
  • Implement and follow IMG Performance Testing Protocols.
  • Be a role model through words, actions, and a positive attitude.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of facilities.
  • Utilize Coach Now to provide updates to athletes and parents on programming and training.
  • Deliver virtual or online sessions as necessary.
  • Assist colleagues with coverage as needed.
  • Travel as necessary based on sport assignment.
  • Supervise athletic training room operations.
  • Follow all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and guidelines.
  • Assist with organizational tasks as necessary.
  • Balance the needs of the business with the needs of the athletes and department.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive environment.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head or Assistant Head Athletic Trainer.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training.
  • National Athletic Trainer’s Association Board of Certification.
  • Eligible for Florida state licensure.
  • Demonstrated experience in the field of Athletic Training.
  • Desire to work as part of a large staff of Athletic Trainers.
  • Ability to work with multiple disciplines.
  • Adaptable and flexible to schedule.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with colleagues, sport coaches, and athletes.
  • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects.
  • Adaptable and flexible to a dynamic training and work environment.
  • Passionate and positive attitude.
  • Open and responsive to feedback.

Preferred Skills:

  • Master’s Degree in Athletic Training.
  • Relevant Athletic Training experience.
  • Bilingual.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift, move, push, and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time.
  • Must be able to move around campus, including gym, turf, fields, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
