The University of Wisconsin-Platteville is seeking a motivated and skilled Assistant Athletic Trainer to join our Athletics Department. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will provide healthcare services to student-athletes, including the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer. This individual will work collaboratively with coaches, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the well-being and optimal performance of student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the daily operation of the athletic training facility.
- Provide injury prevention, assessment, and treatment services for student-athletes.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Maintain detailed records of student-athlete injuries, treatments, and progress.
- Travel with athletic teams to away competitions as needed.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, physicians, and student-athletes regarding injury status and updates.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
- Assist in the instruction and supervision of student-athletic trainers.
- Maintain compliance with university, NCAA, and conference policies and regulations.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or a related field.
- Certification by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers.
- Wisconsin state licensure (or ability to obtain prior to start date).
- CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers certification.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Athletic Training or related field.
- Experience working with collegiate athletes in an athletic training capacity.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to work long hours while standing or sitting.
- Must be able to assist in the lifting and movement of injured athletes.
