Assistant Baseball Coach
Description

The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Men's Baseball Coach. This part-time, seasonal role assists the Head Coach with all aspects of leading an NCAA Division III program, including instructing players on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques.

The typical season runs from September 1st through October 31st and January 15th through May 31st.

Essential Duties:

  • Participate in games and practices, including organizing and implementing daily practices.
  • Coach during competitions and training sessions.
  • Prepare film breakdown and analysis; present analysis to team members.
  • Plan and prepare for games and training sessions.
  • Assist in organizing team travel and meals.
  • Assist with scouting, recruitment, and strategy development.
  • Support player and leadership development.
  • Contribute to the strength and conditioning program, including one-on-one sessions with student-athletes.
  • Provide support and encouragement to student-athletes.
  • Recruit and retain talented athletes; build relationships with prospective student-athletes and their families through email, phone, and in-person meetings.
  • Understand NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules, compliance, and regulations.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Serve as an effective role model for college-age students.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the Men’s Baseball program.
  • Communicate effectively with the Head Coach.
  • Collaborate effectively with other Department of Athletics team members.
  • Attend and participate in department trainings on diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with the skills of baseball
  • Valid driver’s license (in good standing, based on UMS standards)
  • Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
  • Sports recruiting experience
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
