Assistant Boys Soccer Coach
Description

The Newberg SD 29J is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Boys Soccer Coach to support our high school soccer program. This role involves assisting at all three levels of the program and managing various aspects, including summer programs, tryouts, practice schedules, and routines. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Head Coach to develop a strong soccer program based on positive relationships and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing and coaching at all three levels of the high school soccer program.
  • Support the Head Coach in creating a robust program focused on relationship-building and successful outcomes.
  • Provide consistent communication with parents and families of student-athletes.
  • Monitor the academic progress of all student-athletes, ensuring they meet academic eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with other school-sponsored sports programs and encourage multi-sport participation among athletes.
  • Work with the Head Coach to develop and implement an off-season training program.
  • Coordinate with local youth soccer programs below the 9th grade level to foster skill development and program continuity.
  • Engage with local media as needed and build strong relationships with community support groups.

Requirements:

  • NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching certification
  • NFHS Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances Training
  • Valid First Aid/CPR certification
  • Completion of School District assigned personnel training, including:
    • Protecting Students from Abuse
    • Concussion Management
    • Heat Illness Prevention
  • District Fingerprinting/Criminal Background check

  • Commitment to academic excellence and the achievement of all student-athletes.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with young student-athletes.
  • Effective communication skills with a variety of stakeholders, including parents and community members.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and public relations skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of skill development and coaching techniques for soccer.
  • Ability to teach fundamentals, develop game strategy, and articulate a program philosophy.
  • Experience as an assistant coach at the high school level or higher.
  • Experience participating in soccer at the high school and/or college level.
