Position Summary:
The Assistant Baseball Coach will oversee the offense and infield duties. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Recruiting off-campus, on-campus, and via electronic communications
  • Utilizing Trackman for player development
  • Conducting daily developmental drills
  • Making in-game strategic decisions
  • Creating and obtaining detailed scouting reports
  • Recruiting prospective student-athletes under the direction of the head coach
  • Managing bus travel and lodging logistics, mostly throughout the championship segment of the team’s season
  • Handling all recruiting duties assigned by the head coach
  • Managing the pitching staff, including creating a “throwing program,” arm care routines, and developing each pitcher on the staff
  • Managing practice film during bullpen and live practice settings
  • Instructing student-athletes in the sport, including skill instruction, motivating techniques, and conducting practice sessions under the direction of the Head Coach
  • Providing effective feedback during competitions
  • Organizing and planning recruiting duties, such as ARMS paperwork, official/unofficial visit planning, logging CARA hours, and any operational requests from the head coach
  • Planning all travel and accommodations, specifically bus coordination throughout the championship segment of the season
  • Coordinating all specific equipment for travel, including radar gun, j-bands, weighted balls, shoulder tubes, and plyometric balls
  • Recruiting student-athletes under the direction of the Head Coach, including planning official and unofficial visits, attending baseball games of prospective student-athletes, and creating/maintaining positive relationships with each recruited student-athlete
  • Creating and maintaining relationships with high school and junior college coaches throughout the Midwest
