Assistant Coach Baseball
Description

Pfeiffer University is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Baseball Coach to join our team. Reporting to the Head Baseball Coach, the Assistant Coach will be responsible for supporting the Head Coach in all activities necessary to achieve the objectives of our baseball program. This is a full-time, 10-month position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach fundamentals, position details, and strategies of baseball during preparation and practice sessions.
  • Motivate teams to achieve success.
  • Travel and recruit student-athletes.
  • Learn and comply with all policies and regulations of Pfeiffer University, the USA South Conference, and the NCAA.
  • Operate a personal computer and associated software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately.
  • Interact effectively with diverse populations, the University community, and the public.
  • Maintain accurate files in both paper and software programs.
  • Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Supervise personnel and complete associated personnel actions timely and accurately.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports, particularly regarding the athletic budget, eligibility, compliance, and travel documentation.
  • Achieve certification to drive student-athletes to team athletic events.
  • Scout opponents.
  • Coordinate activities through the Head Baseball Coach.
  • Assist the Head Coach in recruiting, instructing, and retaining highly skilled student-athletes.
  • Monitor an institutional facility for safety and security.
  • Adhere to policies and regulations of the Director of Athletics, University, USA South Conference, and NCAA.
  • Assist with marketing and promotion of the baseball program.
  • Counsel student-athletes in sport participation, personal development, and academics.
  • Work with the Admissions Office to enroll student-athletes and assist in recruiting on a limited basis.
  • Monitor student-athletes' academic progress.
  • Maintain playing and practice baseball fields and facilities.
  • Assist in fundraising for both baseball and the Athletic Department.
  • Develop game strategies with the Head Coach.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate baseball camps.
  • Oversee the offensive approach of student-athletes.
  • Responsible for the infielders/outfielders' daily defensive work.
  • Oversee base running of student-athletes.
  • Provide instruction on baseball fundamentals, details, and strategies as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Supervise baseball players and prospective student-athletes.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, to meet position requirements.
  • Engage with faculty, staff, students, parents, service providers, and vendors in an office environment.
  • Manage deadlines, interruptions, high volume, and potentially stressful situations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Playing or coaching experience at the college, university, or professional level.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Proven record of integrity and high principles.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and motivating student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Successful background check.
