Description

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Scouting, talent assessment, and recruiting
  • Coaching knowledge and techniques
  • Administrative tasks as assigned by the Head Coach
  • NCAA and Big South rules compliance
  • Community and University involvement
  • Fiscal responsibility and film exchange
  • Participation in sports camps and clinics with approval from the Head Coach
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide training, direction, encouragement, and motivation to prepare student-athletes in team building, academic success, team strategy and planning, and sportsmanship
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify potential problems and possible solutions, form conclusions and approaches to problems, as well as developmental needs of others through coaching, mentoring, or otherwise helping individuals improve their knowledge or skills
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and communication skills
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Master's or Bachelor's degree with equivalent training and work experience
  • Extensive coaching experience at the Division I level
  • Previous experience as a NCAA Division I college basketball player is preferred
  • A strong commitment to the Student-Athlete concept and a working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • Ability to perform physical activities associated with the sport of basketball
  • Willingness to meet University eligibility to drive state fleet vehicles, including vans or mini-buses

Additional Information:

This position is a full-time, administrative & professional faculty, exempt position. A successful criminal background investigation is required. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps, and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.
