Assistant Coach, Womens Basketball
Description
- Assist the Head Coach in organizing, preparing, and conducting individual and team practices, training, and competition.
- Serve as a positive role model for student-athletes, promoting sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
- Assist the Head Coach, as directed, in the recruitment and selection of student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules and university standards.
- Establish a productive, well-rounded environment that emphasizes the importance of academics alongside athletics.
- Foster professional relationships with students, staff, alumni, and the general public to promote the university and its athletics program.
- Collaborate closely with athletic training, academics, and strength and conditioning staff to monitor the progress of student-athletes.
- Support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete.
- Work cooperatively and responsibly with other departmental personnel to achieve departmental goals.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Women’s Basketball Coach.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of prior coaching experience; OR, an equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.
- Experience in coordinating recruiting efforts; collegiate coaching experience.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to NCAA rules and regulations.
- Excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills.
- Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to work within the American Athletic Conference.
- Ability to work closely with a diverse group of people.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
