Assistant Football Coach
Description
The Assistant Football Coach reports to the Head Football Coach. The primary tasks are to assist the head coach in recruiting and serve as a position coach. This position is defined as a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
Specific Responsibilities
- Identify and recruit quality student-athletes for the football program.
- Develop and implement organized practices and game strategies for designated position(s).
- Monitor and track academic progress of student-athletes on the team.
- Adhere to all NCAA and conference rules and bylaws.
- Develop a positive rapport with athletics staff, as well as the SU community.
- Represent the university to various constituents in a professional manner.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree with no experience OR three years of coaching/playing experience required.
Experience
- Previous Football Coaching preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Deep understanding of and passion for the game of Football.
- Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build strong collaborative relationships.
- Requires the ability to multi-task and attend to detail.
- Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with current students and parents, prospective students and parents, and staff and faculty in a professional manner.
- Ability to use technology and equipment specific to the sport.
Additional Requirements
- This position requires a valid driver’s license, the ability to drive, and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification is preferred.
- This role is identified as one that includes significant interaction with students and/or campus activities, and/or has oversight for disciplinary procedures. Therefore, you are considered a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and required to report any Clery Act crime disclosed to you and remain compliant with annual CSA training requirements.
Physical Demand
- Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
- Position requires the ability to move about the campus.
- Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction; ability to frequently convey detailed or important instructions and ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Position requires lifting, pulling, pushing: Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Requires travel.
- Must possess the physical stamina to effectively coach the sport.
- Work is indoors and outdoors.
