Assistant Football Coach
Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Football Coach to join our team at Newberg SD 29J. The ideal candidate will assist at all three levels of our football program and help manage all aspects of the high school program, including summer program, tryouts, practice schedules, and routines. The Assistant Football Coach will support the Head Coach in the development of a strong program built on relationships and results, ensuring regular communication with parents and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist at all three levels of the football program.
- Help manage and coordinate all aspects of the high school football program, including the summer program, tryouts, practice schedules, and routines.
- Support the Head Coach in developing a robust and successful program.
- Provide regular communication with parents and families.
- Track and monitor the academic progress of all student-athletes, facilitating necessary support systems to ensure academic eligibility.
- Cooperate with other school-sponsored sports and encourage athletes to participate in multiple programs.
- Work with the Head Coach to develop and implement an off-season athletic program.
- Coordinate with the local youth football program below the 9th-grade level.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with community support groups and local media as needed.
Requirements:
- NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Certification
- NFHS Appearance and Performance Enhancing Drugs and Substances Training
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification
- Completion of School District Assigned Personnel Trainings
- Heads Up Football Certification
- Training on Protecting Students from Abuse
- Concussion Management Training
- Heat Illness Prevention Training
- District Fingerprinting/Criminal Background Check

- Commitment to the academic excellence and achievement of all student-athletes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills in guiding young student-athletes.
- Effective communication skills with various stakeholders, including parents and the community.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and public relations skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of football skill development and coaching techniques.
- Ability to teach fundamentals, develop and execute game strategies, and articulate a program philosophy.
- Experience as an assistant coach at the high school level or higher.
- Experience participating in football at the high school and/or college level.
