Description
The Athletics Department at Auburn University at Montgomery is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Sports Information Director. The candidate selected to fill this position will be responsible for the following:
- Providing daily coverage of sports assigned by the Sports Information Director.
- Disseminating university sports information to various media outlets (print, television, radio, internet, etc.)
- Developing and maintaining cordial, informative relationships with community representatives and media to encourage the promotion of the University’s athletics programs.
- Ensuring proper records and statistics for assigned sports are kept in an orderly manner for historical as well as daily information requests.
- Assisting with the creation of publications such as record books, fliers, invitations, special brochures, and any University athletic event programs.
- Assisting in the daily maintenance of the AUM Athletics website.
- Attending all university sporting events when outside media personnel are present.
- Assisting in fundraising development for the department, including generating potential sponsors for the athletics website, digital game boards, and game programs.
- Assisting with creating graphic and video content for all social media accounts sponsored by the Department of Athletics.
- Assisting with the production of video streaming of sporting events by the Department of Athletics, as well as maintenance of all streaming equipment.
- Maintaining knowledge of rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and Gulf South Conference to ensure compliance relative to applicable duties.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Knowledge of acceptable marketing/promotion techniques
- Knowledge of statistical software (NCAA Genius, Presto, Statcrew, etc.)
- Knowledge of graphic design and publication software (Adobe Creative Suite, Gipper, BoxOut, etc.)
- Knowledge of video streaming platforms and video editing software (FloSports, BlueFrame, etc.)
- Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures
- Skill in making written and oral presentations
- Skill in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to communicate with various audiences, both orally and in writing
- Ability to interact with others
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution.
- One (1) year of related experience in college athletics communications or sports journalism.
