Summary:
The Assistant Tennis Professional provides training, technical teaching, and personalized coaching to advance the playing level of club membership and the community at large. Responsible for teaching private and group lessons to all age levels, leading summer camps, and assisting with club tournaments and events. Also, assists with pro shop duties as needed.
Representative List of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Schedules private and group lessons.
- Organizes summer camps and teams; promotes membership and club programming within approved guidelines.
- Makes line-up decisions, coaches matches, and enters weekly match scores; responsible for rescheduling make-up matches when needed.
- Assists with club tournaments and events, including running matches on-site and off-site, clay court maintenance, filling coolers, and emptying trash.
- Observes players while they perform to determine the need for individual or team improvement.
- Coaches players individually or in groups, demonstrating techniques of the sport.
- Oversees daily practice of players to instruct them in areas of deficiency.
- Assists with daily duties in club maintenance.
- Travels with teams to matches and tournaments throughout the year, as needed.
- Assists with pro-shop duties when needed.
- Provides lesson documentation, attends staff meetings, and fulfills city requirements/meetings.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with others.
- Must be available to work some weekends and holidays as needed.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Three (3) years of experience training/assessing player skills at all levels (youth, junior, and adult).
- Individual needs to have advanced playing ability and obtain a U.S.T.A. rating of 4.0 or higher.
Certificates and Licenses:
- U.S.T.A. rating of 4.0 or higher.
- Other certifications may be required from Pelham Racquet Club, such as certification from USPTA and/or SafePlay.
Compensation:
The compensation range for this position is $19,898.00 - $27,118.00 along with 75% of lessons. The pay rate offered will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications.
