Assistant Track and Field Coach
Description
Campbell University seeks a dedicated Assistant Track & Field Coach to support the head coach in managing all aspects of our NCAA Division I Track & Field program. Candidates must adhere to all university, CAA, and NCAA regulations. This position requires flexibility, with irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel (including overnight stays).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Instruct, develop, and train track & field athletes in assigned position groups.
- Motivate and inspire student-athletes to excel academically and athletically; monitor their academic progress.
- Coordinate practice and meet preparations.
- Collaborate with the strength and conditioning coach on sport science management and implementation.
- Provide post-meet analysis and performance enhancement recommendations to the head coach.
- Scout, evaluate, and recommend prospective student-athletes.
- Participate in recruitment efforts while adhering to department, CAA, and NCAA regulations.
- Collaborate with university staff to design comprehensive official and unofficial visit experiences.
- Assist with administrative functions, including travel coordination, equipment management, and budget planning.
- Attend meetings with student-athletes and personnel as required.
- Contribute to public relations, fundraising, and promotional activities for the program.
- Promote and organize running camps and aid in fundraising initiatives.
- Build and maintain relationships with coaches, administration, and various campus departments.
- Maintain availability for extended hours and travel as needed.
- Exemplify the program’s goals, values, and objectives.
- Uphold Campbell University policies and procedures, including Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Track & Field Coach or Director of Athletics.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- At least 1 year of NCAA Division I coaching experience preferred.
- Experience competing as a collegiate-level athlete in Track & Field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to recruit and coach at a high level professionally.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, internet usage, and social media.
- Demonstrated tact, positivity, courtesy, and discretion in all interactions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse groups.
- Capacity to manage multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with adaptability to a changing environment.
