Description

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist in the supervision and instruction of all practices and competitions.
  • Aid in the administrative operations of the programs, including scheduling and team travel.
  • Monitor and nurture student-athletes’ academic progress toward graduation and placement at four-year institutions.
  • Promote positive public relations for the golf program.
  • Provide first aid in emergency situations and complete annual bloodborne pathogen training and CPR certification.
  • Perform set-up, tear-downs, and storage of equipment.
  • Enforce and maintain all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Golf Coach or administration.
  • Regular on-campus and/or onsite attendance is an essential function unless otherwise approved under Hawkeye’s remote work policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of coaching and/or competing in golf.
  • CPR/First Aid certification required or ability to obtain within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Strong commitment to high ethical standards and integrity.
  • Current driver’s license valid in the State of Iowa and an insurable driving record.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work with a culturally diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, and video conferencing technology.
  • Ability to execute organization and department policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher.
  • Experience working with college-age athletes.
  • Experience with Junior College athletics.
  • One-year experience with NJCAA and ICCAC policies.
  • Knowledge and experience of general admissions processes and procedures in post-secondary education institutions.

Working Conditions

  • Anticipated schedule: approximately 20 hours per week for 16 weeks during the fall semester (August – November) and 16 weeks during the spring semester (February – May). Evenings and weekends are dependent on the seasonal demands of the sport.
  • Skills required for succeeding in an outdoor and office environment, using technology.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination, visual acuity to use a keyboard, read technical information, and dexterity for grasping.
  • Work environment: combination of indoor and outdoor settings, susceptible to inclement weather.
  • Interaction with students, faculty, and staff in person, by telephone, and computer.
