ATHLETIC TRAINER
Description
The Athletic Trainer provides support to athletic teams by focusing on the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of injuries. This position ensures athletes receive proper care and management for injuries sustained during practices or games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and management of the athletic training program.
- Establish positive relations with athletes, the public, and employees, providing information on injury prevention, emergency care, and rehabilitation.
- Work collaboratively with the building principal, athletic director, and county staff.
- Build and maintain rapport with the coaching staff and participants.
- Foster positive relationships with students, faculty, parents, spectators, community members, game officials, media, and opponents.
- Exhibit professional conduct during games and practices.
- Motivate staff and players towards achieving athletic goals.
- Adhere to all school, county, league, conference, and WVSSAC policies.
- Maintain professional work habits and update skills to enhance the athletic training program.
- Follow the Employee Code of Conduct and perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Athletic Trainer Certification or eligibility for Limited Football Trainer Authorization.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check as required by WV Code §18-5-15c and/or §18A-3-10.
Physical Demands:
The role requires the ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and climb. Must be capable of using technology such as computers and multi-media equipment. The job may involve lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment varies between indoor gymnasiums and outdoor fields, with temperatures ranging from 20°F to over 90°F. The noise level is typically moderate to loud (60 - 90 dB).
