Milwaukee Area Technical College is seeking a dynamic and passionate Coordinator, Sports Information to lead the athletics media relations, branding, and marketing efforts for the college’s NJCAA Division II athletics program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Athletic Director to develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies to increase the visibility and engagement of MATC Athletics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communication and Branding Oversight:
Manage all communication efforts for MATC's athletic programs, ensuring consistent messaging and branding. Collaborate with other departments to integrate athletics into broader institutional marketing efforts. - Social Media and Website Management:
Create and maintain content for MATC Athletics' website and social media platforms. Provide real-time updates on game results, statistics, rosters, schedules, and student-athlete profiles. - Media Relations and Marketing:
Develop and distribute marketing materials, including newsletters and sports programs, to increase attendance and community engagement. Foster relationships with media outlets and coordinate coverage for MATC Athletics. - Game Day Operations:
Oversee all aspects of game day communications, including press releases, statistical coverage, PA announcing, and live-streaming of home competitions. - Statistical Analysis and Award Nominations:
Compile and maintain statistics for teams and athletes, providing reports to coaches, media, and conference offices. Assist in nominating athletes for regional and national awards. - Collaboration and Relationship Building:
Work closely with coaches, athletes, media, and administrative staff to promote a positive and collaborative environment. - Budget and Inventory Management:
Develop and manage budgets for athletics media operations. Oversee inventory and costs for production and promotional activities. - Continuous Learning and Development:
Stay current with trends in sports media, digital communications, and industry regulations. Participate in relevant professional development opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in social media management, digital media, or related roles, with a strong background in sports.
- Proficiency in social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop).
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and travel to various campuses.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- Five or more years of relevant experience, with a focus on sports media or communications.
