Director of Racquet Sports
Description

The Director of Racquet Sports is responsible for all aspects of racquet sports operations and programming, including tennis and pickleball. This is a highly visible leadership position requiring outstanding communication skills, superior coaching abilities, and innovative programming. The DRS will play a key role in shaping the next phase of growth for Hillwood’s racquet sports offerings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all tennis and pickleball programming for adults, juniors, and families
  • Manage staff, including Assistant Directors and Head Professionals, ensuring professional standards
  • Stimulate member engagement and participation in racquet sports programs and events
  • Develop and execute a calendar of racquet sports events, including tournaments and social events
  • Work closely with the General Manager to prepare and manage the racquet sports budget
  • Ensure court maintenance standards are upheld, overseeing both Har-Tru clay and hardcourt surfaces
  • Build strong relationships with members, creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere
  • Teach lessons, clinics, and team practice sessions for members of all ages and skill levels
  • Monitor lesson and clinic revenue, maintaining accurate records for payroll and commission
  • Serve as a key advisor to the club on future racquet sports facility developments

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of experience leading a racquet sports program at a private club, resort, or similar organization
  • Proven management and leadership experience, with a track record of progressive professional advancement
  • USPTA Professional or PTR Professional certification, with additional Pickleball Certification preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with members, staff, and vendors
  • Experience managing capital projects and startup operations
  • In-depth knowledge of racquet sports court maintenance (Har-Tru clay courts, hardcourt surfaces)
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in the racquet sports industry
