We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Equipment Operations Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of turf equipment maintenance, strong mechanical skills, and leadership abilities. This role is crucial for maintaining high-quality golf course equipment and ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of general business practices as applied to golf course operations practices and procedures.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an equipment manager or equivalent job.
- Strong mechanical skills with thorough knowledge of golf course equipment, hydraulic and electrical systems, gasoline and diesel engine operation, repair and maintenance, inventory management, and specialized golf course equipment such as aerifiers and verticutters.
- Prior experience with preparing golf course equipment for a professional golf tournament preferred.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with prior supervisory experience required.
- General computer skills and experience with equipment maintenance and repair software programs.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Train, motivate, and supervise staff capable of performing tasks associated with equipment maintenance.
- Assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations/Golf Course Superintendent with personnel matters such as pay rates, performance reviews, corrective actions, and terminations.
- Schedule and supervise the daily operations of the equipment maintenance crew.
- Plan, schedule, and monitor daily operations, ensuring adequate staffing to meet departmental goals.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a preventative maintenance program for each piece of equipment used in golf course maintenance operations.
- Oversee maintenance facility repairs and identify and schedule facility maintenance, making budget recommendations.
- Collaborate with the Director of Golf Course Maintenance Operations/Golf Course Superintendent to develop an annual operating budget for equipment maintenance and facility maintenance.
- Assist in the evaluation, selection, pricing, and purchasing of new equipment and make appropriate recommendations.
- Establish equipment and facility maintenance protocols and best management practices (BMPs).
- Train and instruct Equipment Manager, Equipment Technicians, and Preventative Maintenance Technicians on proper procedures for daily tasks.
- Perform routine preventative and curative maintenance to keep equipment in good condition.
- Establish and maintain proper parts inventory levels using the network-approved platform.
- Manage equipment fleet preventative maintenance and repair schedules, parts inventory, and maintenance repair history through the use of departmental approved software.
- Procure competitive bids for all replacement parts and/or service work performed outside of maintenance operations.
- Maintain logs for each piece of equipment regarding daily usage and fuel consumption.
- Provide assistance in training the golf course maintenance staff in the safe and proper use of equipment.
- Ensure the equipment maintenance shop and all appropriate areas are clean, organized, and provide a safe working environment for staff daily.
- Ensure all equipment is kept clean and in safe working condition at all times.
- Wear personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards and ensure shop staff are trained and in compliance.
- Perform special projects or other duties as assigned.
Office:
- Operate in a professional office environment using standard office equipment.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, use hands to handle or feel, and talk or hear.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
Field:
- Exposed to a variety of outdoor weather conditions.
- Requires lifting, pulling, or pushing up to or over 75 pounds, moving and/or lifting items with awkward weights.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, color vision, distance and peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
Travel:
- Travel is not expected for this position.
Work Schedule Expectations:
- This position requires shifts as necessary based on business levels.
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position manages employees and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within the department.
