Girls Golf Assistant Coach
Description

The Girls Golf Assistant Coach is responsible for preparing student athletes for competition in golf, fostering high levels of skill, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.

Essential Functions:

  • Prioritize athletics as a supplemental program supporting the school's academic mission.
  • Implement the sports program's aims and objectives as outlined by the Athletic Director and school district administration.
  • Instruct athletes in golf fundamentals, sportsmanship, teamwork, strategy, and physical conditioning necessary for individual and team success.
  • Assist the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
  • Help plan and schedule regular practice sessions during the season.
  • Maintain attendance forms, insurance records, and other related documents.
  • Oversee safety conditions in the golf facility or area during student athlete presence.
  • Assist in establishing and implementing performance criteria for academic eligibility in interscholastic competition.
  • Enforce code of conduct standards and sportsmanlike behavior at all times; establish and oversee penalties for breaches of standards by student athletes.
  • Recommend the purchase of equipment, supplies, uniforms, etc., as appropriate.

Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, Superintendent, or other district office administrator as designated by the Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • Previous successful coaching experience in golf.
  • Knowledge and/or background in golf.
  • Teaching certificate and experience preferred.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of South Carolina High School League rules and eligibility.
  • Cooperative, service-oriented, and able to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, organize tasks, follow written and verbal directions, and communicate effectively.

Physical Demands:

  • Use strength to lift items needed to perform job functions.
  • Sit, stand, and walk for required periods.
  • Speak and hear clearly.
  • Use close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus vision.
  • Communicate effectively in English; American Sign Language or Braille may be acceptable forms of communication.
  • Reach with hands and arms; use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, technology equipment, computers, and/or controls.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

  • Adhere to confidentiality laws/regulations and district administrative rules regarding sensitive information, employee information, and student information. Failure to adhere to confidentiality may result in disciplinary actions, including termination of employment.
